So much has happened since Katie and I found each other. I quit smoking, I don't drink much anymore, I eat right, I exercise, and I even got saved! Things have definitely turned around for me, and I have my angel to thank for it. She has been my guiding light, and I thank God everyday for bringing me such an amazing woman. She is beautiful, intelligent, driven, sweet, generous, and oh-so fantastic! And that's just the tip of the iceberg. What more could a guy ask for?

I've been thinking about the future alot since Katie and I got engaged, and I've started to notice that I'm neglecting today in the process. I can't wait to marry Katie and start our lives together, but I've been so focused on counting the days until that happens that I'm not having enough fun taking the journey to that day with the woman I love.

So, yesterday I was thinking about things that I can do to help keep my attention on whats going on now, while still keeping those great dreams of the future close at hand. One thing I think I am going to try and be more active on a day-to-day basis, so last night I went out and bought a basketball and a soccer ball. That way I can go to the nearby basketball courts or the park and just have some fun for a couple of hours a few days a week. I am also researching a good place to take swing dancing lessons for when Katie is here for the summer. It should be a lot of fun.

I just need to make sure that I lighten up a little on what is going on in my life. It is time I include some more fun time in my everyday schedule. And most important of all, I plan to include Katie in on whats happening everyday, so that we can share as much of our adventure together as possible.

We are making great headway on planning the wedding, and I am making some tweaks to our website for it. I will post the link to the site as soon as I have it perfected. Anywho, have a spactacular day, and come back anytime ; )

Her side of the story : )

If you would like to read Katie's version of the proposal click on the image or go to http://forkdish.blogspot.com

Engaged!!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_NGn7PWj0au8/Rf6awyluSQI/AAAAAAAAAB4/KQ55O73DBno/s320/Proposal_small.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5043638795705927938" />
And so begins our adventure. It all started a few weeks ago when I picked out the perfect ring. The jeweler brought out a few different cuts and sizes, but the princess cut that he first brought out was perfect. I knew it the moment that I saw it. I told him to go ahead and get it in a beautiful white gold setting that he had shown me. I originally planned to propose to Katie while she was here visiting, but since the ring would take some time to get put together I decided to wait until my April trip to Kentucky before I popped the question.

As luck would have it the ring was ready and my finances fell into place 2 days before Katie was coming for her spring break trip. I knew that the time was right, so I began to organize the proposal for St. Patty's Day. I wanted to propose to Katie on the playground where we first met in 1989, so I planned everything out around that. Lucky for me I didn't even have to bring it up. One of Katie's first ideas when she came home was for us to revisit our old playground. This was perfect, because now it would be that much more of a surprise!

I wanted Mom and Dad to be a part of this important day, so I planned to have them meet us at the playground with a bouquet of white Lillis (the same as the first bouquet of flowers I ever gave her) and the ring. While we were on the monkey bars, which just so happened to be the exact spot where we first met, Mom and Dad arrived. Katie was surprised and wasn't sure what was going on. I smiled at her as dad handed me the ring box. Katie looked at me excitedly and screamed "Are you kidding me?" I held her close to me and looked into her eyes. I said "I love you with all of my heart, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you." I proceeded to kneel and opened the ring box. "Kathleen Ann Lewis, will you marry me?" To which she exclaimed excitedly "Yes!"

Her first question was "Do my parents know?" To which I replied "Your parents have known for weeks." She was just ecstatic that I took the time to call both of her parents to ask for their blessings. Then we turned around and my parents had a surprise for us. We opened the box that my Mom was holding, and inside was something amazing. Mom and Dad had two champaign glasses hand painted for us to use at our wedding. We loved them, and we can't wait to use them. The rest of the day was spent celebrating, ogling over the shiny new ring on Katie's finger, and calling friends to recount that days events.

It was one of the best days of my life, and I look forward to our big day. I will be posting pictures of the proposal on my myspace.com page, so feel free to check them out when you get a chance. And keep an eye out for the wedding website that I will be building. We are planning to have the wedding on January 5th 2008. That will be the day of Mr. and Mrs. Spaz! LoL See you soon!

Kentucky or Bust!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_NGn7PWj0au8/ReM9SEbg8FI/AAAAAAAAABs/veK8WSgA05A/s320/red_blog.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5035936188966432850" />
For those of you that didn't know, I just recently came back from a great trip to Kentucky. I went out there to see Katie for a whopping 9 days (which wasn't anywhere near enough) and we had a great time. She took me to Cracker Barrel, which had a phenomenal apple dumpling, and to King Buffet. And I tell you what, I certainly didn't want to leave.

When I arrived at the airport in Louisville I was trying to watch the baggage claim for my suitcase, but I was more interested in watching the entrance so that I could see Katie come in. Little did I know she came in a side entrance and proceeded to sneek up on me. She turned me around and threw her arms around me. I must say it was quite the pleasant surprise. So much so that I wasn't bothered by the fact that United had lost my laugage lol. Then we had a nice 2 hour drive to Richmond in a rental car (long story...well, not long, but it's Katie's story so you have to ask her lol) that didn't have a working heater in it. That made it fun, seeing how it was nice and frigid outside. When we got to Richmond, she showed me her dorms and introduced me to her roomate, Kaiti (total spaz), and a bunch of us went to King Buffet for dinner. It was scrumptous.

We got to spend that weekend at her parents house, which was a blast (disregarding my allergies to the cats lol). Her parents were great. Her mom loves me (who wouldn't) and her dad was hilarious. We made sure to hit up the local Walmart, because you can't visit a town in Kentucky without going to the local Walmart lol. And I had the pleasure of going to Katie's church with her on Sunday. And, I have to say, Baptist church is so much more interesting than Catholic church lol. I enjoyed it.

Then started the madness lol. The week went by super fast (to my disdane) with everything that we did. I took her to her classes, went to work with her, went to Baptist Campus Ministry with her, voluntered with her, helped her with homework, and much much more! Each day was filled with tons of things to do, and it was great to be able to share all of that together. We aren't really Valentine's Day "people" so we did our own thing, though I did buy her a new Motorola Razr for V-Day. But the day after happened to be our 2-month anniversary, so we definately celebrated that. We enjoyed our anniversary dinner, which always consists of Dominos hotwings and cheesybread (we love it)!

It was a fun ride. Going to work with her was interesting. She works for H.E.A.T. which is a section of EKU (Eastern Kentucky University) that gives talks to students on subjects like quiting smoking, alcoholism, safe sex, etc. And volunteering at the Teen Center was superb. This little fireball, Daniel, kept me occupied with 20 minute games of video game basketball consisting of nothing but full-court allie-oops. For those of you that didn't absorb any of that here is a summary. Teenage kid with lots of energy had me playing a video game for a very long time. Then we played a hilarious board game called ImagineIf (I think that was the name) and it rocked. It's the kind of game that you want to play with people that really know you. Then there was PNO (Parent's Night Out) at the BCM (Baptist Campus Ministry). PNO is a night when parents can drop off their kids at the BCM and we watch them, while the parents go out for a night to themselves. My god, I have never seen so much chaos lol. By the end of the night I needed a nap lol.

We spent the last weekend with Katie's parents, and her mom made me a spactacular German chocolate cake. I didn't want to leave, but I had to come back if I wanted to keep my job and continue to make money lol. I can't wait to see Katie again, and I know I will have just as much fun everytime I go out there to visit her. But this time it's her turn to come see me, hehe. That's all for now (as if this wasn't a frickin novel lol).

Wild at Heart Australia

Well folks, the first phase of my work for Ransomed Heart Ministries is complete. I know it's been a little while since my last blog, but here is the newest update. I am currently working on creating a flash animation for Ransomed Heart Ministries. They are having one of their Wild at Heart Bootcamps in Australia at the end of the year and needed a new page created for this event. I have almost finished what they need done for that page, then they are contracting me to do a similar animation for the banner on their main website. This is all very exciting.

I am also currently working on a logo and poster for Whitney. She and some of her fellow students are running for the Wharton Graduate Association (WGA) Executive Council, and they needed an identity for their campaign. Being the good little brother and graphic designer, I was happy to oblige. I wish her all the luck in the world with her campaign.

That is all for now folks. We shall return again soon with links to the completed work.

What a Butthead

This post is for Emrys. He keeps bugging me to get on the ball, and keep posting on my blogger. I think he just needs more to keep him busy at work lol. Well, I guess I will do something with this post. For those of you that don't know, I quit smoking not too long ago. It's great to have the support of my friends through it, but more than anything I have to thank Katie for helping me get through the worst of it. She motivated me to quit, and helped me work through the roughest parts of nicotine withdraw. Now I am using my free time to work out and run. I feel much better, and I am sticking with it. Thanks babe, I love you. And to the rest of you. See you soon.

Anniversary

Well, Katie and I are celebrating our one month anniversary today.
